Chipmunk © Tracy Hall 2012

This is the miniature painting I was working on when demonstrating at the Hilliard Society a few weeks back, and finally got around to finishing. Its a little chipmunk that I photographed at Longleat.
The weather has been pretty miserable here lately and things have been a bit slow to get going in the garden, but at least the aquilegias are out in force. I love their shapes. The birds are hard at work as well with sparrows and starlings frantically feeding youngsters down by the house and this beautiful pair of oystercatchers with their single chick in the field.

Love the chipmunk - here on Fuerteventura we have lots of Barbary Ground Squirrels (called Chipmunks locally) which are not quite as chubby as your Longleat resident :-)
Beautiful one, Tracy. I've never seen those birds before either. Love the orange beaks.
Oh he is a real sweetie! Aquilegias really are the marines of the plant world, there's no stopping them! :)
Tracy - your chipmunk makes me smile - always enjoy your art - it is really lovel. Thanks for takin the time to share.
Thank you, not heard of them Sue. We used to have a pet chipmunk and he was a brilliant character. Glad you like the Oystercatchers, Carol, they are really beautiful birds and we get lots of them here.
Thanks Jarnie - yes they seem unstoppable! Nice to hear from you Debbie and glad you liked the chpimunk!
