This was the lunar eclipse this morning at 7.40am (apparently the last time this happened on the winter solstice was 1638, and the next time will be 2094). Not the best photo, but the best I could do and it was pretty impressive.
Is it just me or is there a face in there?!
I also received my copy of 'A Masterclass in Drawing and Painting Animals' this week from Lorenz/Anness Publishing who had asked if they could use some of my paintings in the book. I know the publication was considerably delayed so its nice to finally see it! Its written by wildlife artist Jonathan Truss and Sarah Hoggett and I noticed BBC Wildlife magazine has a current competition to win copies. I haven't had a chance to dip into it yet (hopefully I can catch up over the holidays) but it is beautifully produced.

Hello Tracy, wonderful photo of the eclipse and congratulations of the book coming out. You are an awesome and inspiring artist. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas and prosperous and healthy New Year.
Lovely photo. I had hoped to see the lunar eclipse and the winter solstice this morning at Corfe Castle in Dorset but we were clouded out. Can I survive till 2094?
Thank you for your interesting blog. Your beautiful pictures never cease to amaze me.
Greetings for the season and best wished for the new year.
I think thats a great photo Tracy!! We tried to take some but didn't get anything half as good...we did see a beautiful eclipse however:-)
We were standing on our back deck, whispering to each other at 3:00am! It was pretty awesome to see and I'm sure will be a great memory for my 12 year old.
Good photo Tracy, none of mine can out bt at least I can say I saw it normally theres so much cloud in the UK we miss such things!

Congratulations on the new book. Your work is inspirational!
Sending you loads of Christmas cheers and very best wishes for a fantastic New Year.
I'm sorry you weren't able to see it Marion, but at least we didn't have to be up in the wee small hours like Kim! A shame too that it wasn't visible in Australia Sadami.
Thank you so much for the good wishes and I hope you all have a peaceful festive period and a wonderful new year.
Congrats on the book! :) I'm glad you posted the lunar eclipse too, as I wasn't able to see it in Minnesota either - too much snow and clouds that night!!
Great photo of the lunar eclipse and congratulation on your book entries. I will have watch for it in the stores. Happy Holidays Tracy...
