Farmyards, seals and flu

Segments of new farm painting (untitled)* - © Tracy Hall 2009 20" x 28" watercolour

Well, it doesn't do to try and paint miniatures with flu. I've started and abandoned two in the past week. Oh well. I am getting on fine with the larger works though, one above for a puzzle company. Must be a focusing thing :) Not a great deal to say just now, so some seals to enjoy instead from the beach here last week:

*Note - sadly I am not able to show the complete painting just yet, so have shown a few snippets instead. Sorry.

I hope you feel better soon Tracy, there's nothing worse is there?

This jigsaw painting is wonderful. I love how many objects you manage to put into a piece. How long does it take you to come up with the ideas for a piece like this and how long to draw them all out?

Tracy, I love when you paint small format art in the style of miniature art. It's magic! I must try it someday when I'm feeling patient!

Thanks Jeanette. I don't time it but I figure on around a month for these. I think planning it out takes as long as painting it - I learnt a while ago not to rush that part or I would regret it later! I enjoy that stage alot though and its great fun to try and create a little world. I often have some kind of brief from the company to start off.

Deb - I'm not quite sure what you mean, but thankyou :) I'm probably being fuzzy headed.

Thnaks so much for the well wishes, much better today! I wish I had used a tripod (or my daughters head perhaps) for filming the seals as I didn't realise how unsteady my hand was. I'm putting it down to flu -along with everything else recently :)

Ps. I was back in Polperro recently. Photos over at the Ugly Rabbit if you want to see them!
