'White Faced Whistling Duck'© Tracy Hall 20092" x 2" watercolour on board (shown with 'ghost penny' for scale)
This is the finished painting I was working on in the photo last week at the gallery, and below framed up ready to go off to Edinburgh this week. I fell for these ducks as they are really beautiful - their latin name is Dendrocygna viduata and they seem to also be called white-faced whistling tree ducks - but they were pretty noisy anyway as their name suggests! I liked the preening pose in this shot (which they seemed to do alot of) but altered the background a bit to suit myself - you can see the ref pic I was working from in the previous post.

Beautiful as always and still in awe at how you can get so much detail into such a small size.
You say this painting will soon be on its way to Edinburgh - can I ask what for as if it is for an exhibition I want to go - would love to see one of your minatures in person:)
Thanks so much Laura, I still can't get a decent scan of the minis so in person is definitely best!
The RSA have allowed miniatures into their annual exhibition for the first time in a while, so several miniaturists are entering work this year - if by a miracle mine get accepted I'll let you know :)
Amazing, I can't fathom how you can paint so tiny and have it turn out so wonderful and so detailed.
Beautiful work Tracy, as always. The best to you in the shows!
Thank you Krista, brushes with a nice fine point and a magnifying glass certainly help :)
Thanks Barbara - and wish you every success in the US shows too!
This white-faced guy is fabulous, Tracy. Don't think we have them here and I can see why you would favor them. Those feathers are just too beautiful. As always, I am in awe of the size of these jewels!
Really good Tracy, you've really found yourself in these minis.
Beautiful work as usual Tracy. Having seen your minis up close (at the RMS last week) I can appreciate just how lovely they are. So detailed but not in the least twee. Jewels indeed :)
Thanks Mollie, Judy and Lesley. RMS....Only just a little GREEN lesley :))
