'Henry' © Tracy Hall 200912" x 9.5" watercolour on Arches HP
Meet Henry - isn't he adorable?! I think everyone who saw him on the easel this week fell for him and I really enjoyed working on his portrait. Apart from Henry I have been drawing out two new larger paintings destined for jigsaws and working on another commission - not much to see yet but here's a progress photo with the lapwing emerging in the foreground:

what a nice puppy painting!
Beautiful puppy painting Tracy! Makes me want to cuddle him. The Lapwing is going to be lovely also - I always find it so amazing that you fit in so much work :)
Henry is so gorgeous. He looks just like my dog, Sam, did when he was a pup.
What a cutie Tracy, and so well done.
He's adorable Tracy! He'd break my heart too for sure! I have a question for you. Do you just about always work with hotpress paper? And Arches? I'm finding that I have once again fallen in love with the smooth surface and am, as always exploring and experimenting.
It will be fun to see the final lapwing painting. Viewing your works in progress is like watching a magic show!
Thank you all for the lovely comments :)
Hi Mary - Yes I like the hot pressed surface best. Personally I like Arches, Saunders Waterford and Two Rivers most. They are all slightly different. Arches HP is the most unforgiving I would say, and doesn't take at all well to erasing (which the other two do)so I always transfer completed drawings to it, but probably the smoothest surface. Everyone has their own favourites and pet hates dont they. It depends in the end how you like to work - and the only way to find out is to try them all :)
For miniatures I would really recommend trying Crescent Watercolour rag board (http://www.dickblick.com/products/crescent-premium-watercolor-board/).
Hope that helps.
E' bellissimo Henry, come lo sono tutti i cuccioli e tu hai fatto un ritratto perfetto!Bravissima!!!
Ciao
These are both wonderful, but yes - that puppy pulls at the heartstrings!
Henry stole my heart with one glance. I don't know how I had missed seeing him earlier. Great job!
