Landscape in miniature

gulls in miniature - watercolour paitig by Tracy Hall Black-headed Gulls at Burray Pier © Tracy Hall 2009
2" x 3.5" watercolour on board

A new miniature shown enlarged here with a penny for scale. I should do the same view in a gale - the little cottage in the distance was standing in three feet of water during a particularly bad one a few winters ago, a little island all on its own. And the pier completely vanished. But its very hard to beat on a calm summer's day :)

Tracy this IS a lovely painting. You should do a series someday - all 4 seasons, stormy skies, raining. You could paint this scene so many ways.

Thanks so much Deb. You're right, a series would be fun to do. We only really get two seasons here, but could do a series based on one day as it can be pretty changable!

That's very kind of you Gail, thankyou :)

Tracy, I just love your compositions. Your birds are always so real and look as though they are going to fly right off the page!
