Rose painting in miniature

miniature flower painting of roses Roses © Tracy Hall 2009
2.25" x 1.75" watercolour on board

I don't often paint roses, but for this miniature I couldn't resist these and felt like trying something a little different. A quick post, but I had another go at a video and you can watch it below or click on the picture above to see it full size (I suggest selecting 'HQ' to watch in high quality). I hope you like it - it was much easier than my earlier attempt...and its shorter :) The black shape you can see in the top right is the magnifying glass.

Gorgeous Roses Tracy! I'm just totally impressed how fast you can move the tip of that brush when you really get excited about your work :)

Thanks for the fun and educational videos showing how painstaking miniatures can be!

Glad you enjoyed it Chris! Thanks Wes - the chap playing the fiddle over my shoulder was a tad distracting though :)

Tracy, I've just found your blog and this is my favorite of your beautiful paintings. Thank you for sharing the actual creation of your artistry with us on You Tube. I really want to create miniature paintings for sale and haven't painted daily in years. I'm hoping to soak up inspiration and tips from your website! Again, thank you for sharing your talent.

Tracy, I just LOVE it when you put videos together! They are so much fun to watch! (My though...you had to work quickly in order to finish the painting at the exact same time as the violinist) As always, I just love your work! You are a wonder!

PS By the way...What WAS that violin music? It was really pretty...

Glad you liked it Mary :)

Just looked up the music and it is Bach's Violin Sonata No. 1 in G minor played by Christiane Edinger.

Good of her to finish when she did wasn't it?!
