'Collared Dove' Tracy Hall 20091.75" x 2.25" Watercolour on board (enlarged with a penny for scale)
I really enjoy watching the birds come to the feeders in the garden. In the morning and early evening the light is beautiful (when the sun is out admittedly!). Amongst the sparrows and finches we sometimes get visits from a pair of collared doves as well - hence this new miniature painting. I have a little more work to do on the leaves before this one is finally completed, but am itching to get on with the next one so am going to come back to it next week.

Love this Tracy. I just can't imagine how you are doing that background with all it's mystery in such a small piece. Love doves as we have them here and their mournful call is so beautiful. Thought I had commented on your "oystercatchers" but guess it is out there in cyberland. I love the way you punched color into that one. Carried my eyes all around the piece.
Lovely as always Tracy, You can really feel the sun dappled light in this one, I can smell the woods! Lesley
Thanks Mollie and Lesley, very glad you like it!
Very nice Tracy. Love the fine detail in this. Great job.
Love it Tracy, is this for a show.
Thanks Dors and Judy. Its off to the Llewellyn Alexander gallery in London judy. At least it will be when I finish it :)
Hi Tracy, another lovely miniature. I love the "dots" in the background, gives a beautiful feeling of sun glittering through the background. Was it difficult to do this on the board?
Thank you Doris - It was fun to try the dappled light! I found a cotton bud very useful, and have yet to find anything that doesn't work on this watercolour board, its great stuff.
